NSW: Aust hopes to sign MoU with US over missile defence: PM=2

Mr Howard said Australia ought to be involved in a program which would protect it from
missiles targeting the nation.

"Australia is very interested in exploring ways in which we might be involved," he said.

"It seems to me a fairly commonsense proposition if Australia can have access to a
system that defended missiles directed at Australia from arriving in Australia, then it's
something we ought to be part of."
