FED:Don't make snap super decisions: Shorten

CANBERRA, Aug 14 AAP - Australians again have been told not to make any snap decisions
about their superannuation accounts despite balances taking a hit from sharemarket volatility.

Gains of the past year or so have been wiped out as local and global stock markets
tumble amidst concerns about sovereign debt and slowing growth in Europe and the United
States.

Superannuation Minister Bill Shorten says now is not the time to run away from super.

"As an actual investment product super's done reasonably well over the last 20 years,"

he told ABC Television on Sunday, citing gains of about nine per cent during the past
two years.

"Certainly it's being a wild ride this week, but we still finished ahead."

Now was not the time to make "snap decisions", Mr Shorten said, adding the equities
market generally had performed well in Australia.

Most balanced super accounts hold between 40-50 per cent in shares, higher than the
global average.

NSW: Muslim candidates to stand in up to seven seats

Muslim candidates could stand in up to seven seats at next month's New South Wales
election .. with former Guantanamo Bay inmate MAMDOUH HABIB announcing his candidacy for
a western Sydney electorate.

Mr HABIB will run as an independent in the strong Labor seat of Auburn on a platform
of human rights .. freedom of expression and opposition to the war in Iraq.

Mr HABIB was released from Guantanamo Bay in 2005 after being held for three years
without charge.

JOHN HOWARD says Egyptian-born Mr HABIB .. who was accused of training with al-Qaeda
.. is exercising his democratic right.

But New South Wales Premier MORRIS IEMMA says Mr HABIB still has questions to answer
to the Australian people .. and predicts he'll get little support from voters.

Labor and the Liberals have both ruled out preference deals with Mr HABIB.

Islamic leaders believe they can influence the results in more than a dozen seats at
the election .. and say candidates from the Muslim community are likely to be named in
the seats of Lakemba and Bankstown.

Vic: Inglis avoids conviction over assault charge

Vic: Inglis avoids conviction over assault charge

By Michelle Draper

MELBOURNE, April 12 AAP - Melbourne Storm rugby league player Greg Inglis has been
ordered to attend a behavioural change program and pay $3,000 to a women's health service
for assaulting his girlfriend.

The 23-year-old Australian Test representative has avoided a conviction for pushing
Sally Robinson with an open hand, but will be subject to a diversion order.

Inglis appeared in Sunshine Magistrates Court on Monday with Ms Robinson by his side.

In a written statement, he said he accepted the diversion order because it was "the
right decision for Sally's welfare and privacy".

A charge of recklessly causing serious injury was dropped and the other charge of unlawful
assault would be dealt with through the diversion program, Magistrate Lionel Winton-Smith
said.

Inglis, who is regarded as one of rugby league's best players, was not required to
enter a plea as the diversion program allows first time offenders to avoid conviction.

But, under the program, Inglis must attend a men's behavioural change program and pay
$3,000 to Women's Health West.

His lawyer Robert Richter, QC, told the court that when reporting the incident Ms Robinson
told police Inglis had never hurt her before.

She informed police that at the time of the incident Inglis was frustrated and she
may have upset him by "getting in his face", Mr Richter told the court.

She also told police she did not wish the matter to be investigated further.

He said the pair had been together for four years and had reconciled after the dispute
in August last year.

Mr Winton-Smith said that any matter involving violence should be considered with caution
before recommending it be dealt with by a diversion order.

But in this instance he agreed the charge of assault, which involved Inglis pushing
Ms Robinson with an open hand, was suitable for a diversion program.

Mr Winton-Smith told Inglis: "You pushed her back onto the bed with an open hand.

"You have expressed regret and remorse over the incident."

Outside court, Melbourne Storm chief executive Matt Hanson asked for privacy for Inglis
and Ms Robinson.

He said the club would continue to offer counselling to the pair.

"At all times our priority has been the health, safety and wellbeing of Sally and Greg
and respect for the judicial process," Mr Hanson told reporters.

"This has obviously been an extremely difficult time for Sally and Greg."

Previously, the court has heard that Inglis planned to contest the charges against
him based on self-defence, arguing he was protecting Ms Robinson from self-harm.

Fed: Greens want Roxon to intervene in Qld abortion debate

CANBERRA, Aug 29 AAP - The Australian Greens have urged federal Health Minister Nicola
Roxon to intervene in Queensland's abortion debate.

Queensland cabinet amended the state's Criminal Code on Monday to protect doctors prescribing
abortion drugs.

The move came after public hospitals, concerned about a coming court case where a young
couple has been charged in relation to a medical abortion, suspended the procedure.

Despite the amendments, hospitals are reportedly refusing to resume terminations and
are sending patients interstate to receive them.

Medical abortions are still technically illegal under Queensland criminal law.

Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young called on Ms Roxon to convene an emergency meeting
of all state and territory health ministers and attorneys-general to address the issue.

"The commonwealth has a responsibility to help resolve this legal confusion," she said
on Saturday.

"Women should have the right to access the health services they need, and to be able
to make safe, legal choices."

WA: Missing yachtsman found

PERTH, April 1 AAP - A yachtsman missing for two days off the West Australian coast
after strong winds pushed him off course has been found safe and well.

Seven fixed wing aeroplanes, including a P3 Orion from the Royal Australian Air Force,
had been searching for the man in his late 40s who left Geraldton in his 10 metre yacht
Tradewinds on Thursday.

A search began after he failed to arrive in Geraldton, about 480km away, on Sunday.

A police spokesman said he was found safe and well in his yacht today almost 10km off
Carnarvon and had made his own way into port where he was receiving a medical check-up.

Strong winds had pushed him out from the coast, the spokesman said.

Tracey Jiggins, from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority which coordinated the
search, said there were no fears the experienced yachtsman had been in any danger.

WA: Federal Court rejects alleged Nazi criminal appeal

The Federal Court's rejected an appeal by an elderly Perth man .. fighting extradition
to Europe for alleged Nazi war crimes.

Hungary wants to try 84-year-old CHARLES ZENTAI over allegations he tortured and murdered
an 18-year-old Jewish man in Budapest .. while serving in the army during World War Two.

ZENTAI was due to face extradition proceedings last year in the Perth Magistrates Court
.. but they stalled when he joined alleged Irish fraudster VINCENT O'DONOGHUE in a federal
court challenge.

The pair argued state magistrates don't have the legal power to deal with extradition.

Federal Court Justice ANTONY SIOPIS rejected the pair's argument last September and
the full bench of the court heard their appeal earlier this year.

Justice BRIAN TAMBERLIN today said the appeal has been rejected .. and extradition
proceedings against ZENTAI can now proceed .. pending further legal challenges.

Under federal law extradition applications from foreign countries go before state magistrates
.. who assess their validity before referring them to the federal attorney-general ..

for final adjudication.

Justice TAMBERLIN .. who heard the appeal along with Justice ROGER GYLES and Justice
MICHAEL MOORE .. said ZENTAI and O'DONOGHUE failed to make out their case.

ZENTAI .. who's suffering from poor health and wasn't in court .. has denied the allegations

Qld: Premier set to announce water plan

AAP General News (Australia)

Qld: Premier set to announce water plan

Premier PETER BEATTIE will tomorrow announce details of a major plan to drought-proof
Queensland's south-east .. which could include declaring a state of emergency.

State cabinet today gave the green light to a plan to establish a water grid in the
south-east .. after a new report showed it's in the grip of the worst drought on record.

Mr BEATTIE also took over the water portfolio from HENRY PALASZCZUK .. who's announced
he'll retire at the next election.

The water grid proposal is expected to include a new timetable for a number of already
announced initiatives .. including two new dams .. pipelines .. desalination plants and
water recycling for industry .. as well as groundwater projects and new ways to cut water
use.

Mr BEATTIE says there's only a 10 per cent chance of the south-east corner receiving
the rain it needs in the next six months.

He'll discuss the cabinet plan with the region's 18 mayors individually .. before tomorrow's
announcement.

The Premier says cabinet has made a decision on whether to declare a state of emergency
.. which would allow the government to seize control of local government-controlled water
assets if certain projects were not delivered within specific deadlines.

But details of the decision won't be announced until tomorrow morning.

Mr BEATTIE says the government will spend a small fortune delivering the water grid.

Opposition Leader LAWRENCE SPRINGBORG says Mr BEATTIE was spoiling for an election
before tough Level four water restrictions were introduced in the south-east.

But he says the Premier knows the restrictions will be extremely unpopular and his
government will suffer a backlash at the polls.

Mr SPRINGBORG says Mr BEATTIE wants to avoid that and con people into thinking he's
working to solve the water crisis when he and his government are to blame for the water
shortages south-east Queenslanders are being forced to endure right now.

Bridgman, Percy Williams

Bridgman, Percy Williams (1882–1961) American physicist Bridgman, the son of a journalist, was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and educated at Harvard where he obtained his PhD in 1908. He immediately joined the faculty, leaving only on his retirement in 1954 after serving as professor of physics from 1919 to 1926, professor of mathematics and natural philosophy from 1926 to 1950, and as Huggins Professor from 1950 to 1954.

Most of Bridgman's research has been in the field of high-pressure physics. When he began he found it necessary to design and build virtually all his own equipment and instruments. In 1909 he introduced the self-tightening joint and with the appearance of high tensile steels he could aim for pressures well beyond the scope of earlier workers. At the beginning of the century Emile Amagat and Louis Cailletet had attained pressures of some 3000 kilograms per square centimeter; Bridgman increased this enormously, regularly attaining pressures of 100,000 kg/cm2.

Bridgman used such pressures to explore the properties of numerous liquids and solids. In the course of this work he discovered two new forms of ice, freezing at temperatures above 0°C. He also, in 1955, transformed graphite into synthetic diamond. Bridgman was awarded the 1946 Nobel Prize for physics for his work on extremely high-pressures.

He was also widely known as a philosopher of science and in his book The Logic of Modern Physics (1927) formulated his theory of ‘operationalism’ in which he argued that a concept is simply a set of operations. In his 70s Bridgman developed Paget's disease, which gave him considerable pain and little prospect of relief. He committed suicide in 1961.

accountability

accountability An obligation to give an account. For limited companies, it is assumed that the directors of the company are accountable to the shareholders and that this responsibility is discharged, in part, by the directors providing an annual report and accounts (see annual accounts). In an accountability relationship there will be at least one principal and at least one agent. This forms the basis of an agency relationship.

Types of home lighting.(Knight Ridder Newspapers)

The brightest prospects, as recommended by Linda Jacobson and Margaret McNeely at Muska Lighting Center and Cathy Mogelson and Darren Strafelda at Creative Lighting:

_Rope lighting. Tiny lights imbedded in a long plastic tube that can be bent. For use where dusting is difficult and only a small amount of light is required, such as the tops of cabinets.

_Cupboard lights. Halogen puck-shaped lights or tiny track lights, which illuminate what's in open or glass-front cabinets.

_Under-cabinet lights. To add brightness to kitchen work areas.

_Metals. Softer, more complex looks that either are metal or are painted to look like metal. In particular, pewter, rusted-looking iron, wrought iron, brushed nickel, bronze; not shiny brass. Stainless steel, especially in kitchens.

_Dimmer switches. These allow the brightness to be turned down to create a softer mood, act as nightlights and save electricity.

_Bendable rail lights. A contemporary look with small lights along the rail.

_Cable lights. The cable is strung across the space, and lights are hung from it. A contemporary style.

_Glass beaded shades. Each bead catches a little light and glows.

_Pendant lights. They dangle from the ceiling on cords or chains. Especially popular over kitchen islands.

_Candelabras. With lots of little fabric shades and an old-world look.

_Reproduction fixtures. To match an Arts and Crafts home or blend with Mission-style furniture.

_European styles. Especially French countryside (toile patterns, yellows and blues) and Tuscan (warm oranges, apricots and greens).

_Wall sconces. Half-moons to light hallways and stairways.

_Recessed lights. Useful in kitchen remodeling when the ceiling height is 8 feet and you don't want fixtures hanging down.

_Monkeys, palm trees, camels. A whimsical change of pace.

_Torchieres. Floor lamps that point upward, thereby providing a lot of light without harshness.

Netrail Selects ADNet Agency to Launch Major Ad Campaign.

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 4, 1998--

Atlanta Internet Marketing Firm to Produce Print, Radio,

Internet Advertising, Web Site, and

Collateral Materials

Netrail has recently hired ADNet Agency to produce a variety of marketing materials for the launch of its new ad campaign.

Netrail, a Tier One Internet Backbone Provider, was founded in 1994 in Washington, D.C. After moving to Atlanta in 1996, the company built NAPSouth, a Network Access Point that eliminates much of the backhauling of Internet traffic from the Southeast to other areas of the country. Netrail has recently begun expansion of their national network into 40 new cities.

"Our website is the focal point for our prospects and customers -- to allow them to acquire information and understand how we can provide solutions for them," said Netrail CEO Tom Body. "Therefore, it was imperative for us to select an advertising agency with an in-depth understanding of our market and an Internet marketing track record. We selected ADNet International to handle both our online and off line advertising, creative, and consulting needs."

Netrail chose ADNet to launch the corresponding ad campaign after the Internet Marketing company constructed the initial phase of Netrail's website.

"We think that the web page is really the lynch pin around everything that we're trying to do, and we have all the confidence in the world that ADNet will design us a world-class web page," said Nancy Swartz, vice president of sales for Netrail. "We've been very impressed by the work and the clients ADNet has produced. We find that they bring a tremendous amount of industry expertise to the table."

ADNet will produce print, radio and on-line advertising, sales support and collateral materials, and newsletters for Netrail, and will further develop the company's website.

"The Internet continues to evolve into an advertising medium," said Patrick Anderson, CEO of ADNet Agency. "Online testing helps to define the creative for our direct marketing plans. The tested concepts are then rolled out in a national advertising campaign. Our goal is to increase business-to-business sales by building interactivity and information delivery into Netrail's corporate website."

Security forces yesterday arrested 39 members of the Muslim Brotherhood, the main opposition group in Egypt, while they were on holiday in the Nile Delta, a security official said."Thirty-nine Muslim Brothers were arrested while on holiday in Kafr al-Sheikh," the official said, requesting anonymity. The Muslim Brotherhood website said three of those arrested were local leaders of the group. The men are accused of propagating the Brothers' ideology after being found in possession of Islamist literature which is banned in Egypt, the official said.Dozens of Islamists were rounded up in the same area earlier this month during a by-election. The vote was won by the ruling National Democratic Party of President Hosni Mubarak. The Muslim Brotherhood, founded in 1928, was officially banned in Egypt in 1954 but is relatively tolerated. Telecom Egypt Q1 net profit dips 10 pct; shares up.(Financial report)

CAIRO: Landline monopoly Telecom Egypt posted a 10 percent drop in first-quarter net income on Wednesday after anti-government protests hit the economy and led the authorities to suspend some telecom services.

But the company said the worst effects of the political turmoil that unseated veteran president Hosni Mubarak were behind it, helping its shares rise 1.4 percent in a flat market.

It made net income of LE 892 million ($150 million), down from LE 992 million in the same period a year earlier, beating the average forecast of LE 689 million from three analysts.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization slipped to LE 1.284 billion from LE 1.364 billion, and revenue fell 4 percent to LE 2.4 billion, it said in a statement.

EBITDA as a percentage of sales - a closely watched measure of profitability - was 53.5 percent, well above the analysts' consensus estimate of 45.9 percent.

"The EBITDA margin came in high, and we didn't expect this level, but we are not expecting them to sustain it for the rest of the year as their latest 15 percent annual salary increase will probably impact results starting in Q2," said Marise Ananian, vice president of equity research at EFG-Hermes.

Telecom companies including Vodafone Egypt were forced to cut their lines during the height of the protests that toppled Mubarak on Feb. 11. Telecom Egypt owns a 45 percent stake in British operator Vodafone's local unit.

An administrative court fined Mubarak and two former officials LE 540 million ($90.77 million) on Saturday over the service cuts.

"I firmly believe that the biggest impact (of Egypt's political turmoil) is behind us. We look forward to the future with confidence," said Chairman Akil Bashir.

Telecom Egypt said on March 7 that the unrest cost it LE 17.57 million. Its shares are down 12 percent this year, outperforming a 22 percent drop by the benchmark Egyptian EGX30 index.

The company said the number of fixed-line subscribers was flat year-on-year at 9.3 million and it expanded its share of the ADSL market to 63 percent from 61 percent, helping increase internet and data revenues by 33 percent.

"I believe they will use the cash they have to increase their dividend and that they will not go for acquisitions for the moment," said Ananian at EFG, which rates the stock a "buy."

Part 2: IMRB Introduces Display Advertising Metrics: Exposure & WRPs; Pricing; TAM Friendly.

India, Nov. 3 -- In part one of this two part interview with Balendu Shrivastava, Group Business Director, IMRB, told us about how their new Web Audience Measurement system tracks user information, and how they've selected the panel. In part two, he talks new metrics being introduced into the mix, specifically looking to address the needs of Display Advertising:

MediaNama: Which instant messengers are you tracking, and are you able to track usage on multi-IM software like Pidgin?

Shrivastava: That we don't do. We typically track only the original versions of MSN, GTalk and Yahoo messenger.

MediaNama: How do you track IM communications within GMail or Yahoo Mail?

Shrivastava: That is captured as a part of the website usage.

MediaNama: Are you also tracking any tag based data from websites? (ED: incorporating analytics from sites themselves)

Shrivastava: It will be coming in pretty soon.

MediaNama: Which metrics are you tracking?

Shrivastava: We're tracking the traditional Internet metrics like page-views and time on site. I'm also introducing new metrics like Exposures. Lets take Television as an example. If I'm on STAR, and I move to Zee, and come back to STAR, my (TAM) meter captures two exposures to audiences.

In case of Internet, (let's say) I am on Rediff and I minimize the page, and go to Yahoo and come back to Rediff, without refreshing the page. Till I refresh or close the page, the page-view is not taken as a delivered one. But in our case, we capture user behavior. Exposure is controlled by the audience. Also, the audience will be looking at giving multiple exposures. There are pages with AJAX, and the page doesn't refresh. There are instances of no data going to the server, but the user keeps minimising and maximising the window when using. We're capturing that as well. It cannot be tampered by servers, and we can avoid server side refreshes put in for increasing pageviews. Secondly, the exposures, the way they're happening, in parallel to TV, are also being captured.

Second metric we've introduced is WRP (Web Rating Points), calculated the same way that TRP (Television Rating Points) are calculated. The only difference is that TRPs are calculated for a 30 minute program, and on a minute level. In case of the Internet, we've seen that on an average, the number of exposures per minute is 10. So our data is calculated at a seconds level, because the Internet is a faster and non-linear medium. Otherwise, the ratings mean the same, they indicate the same, and are comparable. This is time weighted viewership. There are other metrics which we are testing at our end as well.

MediaNama: How are you differentiating yourself from Comscore?

Shrivastava: Comscore doesn't give you city-wise data. It does not give reach-frequency-buildups.

MediaNama: What are reach frequency buildups?

Shrivastava: Reach frequency buildups are when, typically, Levers (Unilever) is running a campaign, they'll expect a reach of 30% of the universe, and each of them being exposed to the system at least 10 time. The metrics we're able to generate is - how many people have been exposed (i.e. shown the advertisement): 1+ times, 2+ times, 3+ times. We can go on till 100 times. That's one big differentiator.

Secondly, the platform that we've designed is on the TAM software. It's the same software engine on the back-end. The analysis that we're generating, the WRPs, have been modified for the Internet industry. But the mechanism, the formulas, are the same as for TRPs.

MediaNama: Are you at looking at an integration of WAM with TAM, for media planners who are making a plan for TV and Internet? Will you give a bundled offering?

Shrivastava: A possibility around that cannot be denied.

MediaNama: How are you pricing this product for agencies? Vizisense is priced at Rs. 2 lakhs for a basic license.

Shrivastava: We're keeping it at a low cost per unit, unlike TAM. We understand that TAM is for television, and here it will need to be lower, at Rs. 5 lakhs. Our product is better - Vizisense cannot tell you about usage for a Cricket match today between 4pm to 8pm. I can actually give you the WRP for that particular duration for that particular site for that particular date. The date-wise data and day-parts data is not available Vizisense. What they're giving is something that is monthly data. People run campaigns on certain dates and certain time slots, not at peak time for Internet, whether 12-1 pm, 1-2 pm, 2-4 pm.

We'll be able to identify which is the day of the week when Internet audiences are maximum, when a publisher can charge a premium for an ad, or an advertiser can expect more hits. We'll be the first company to talk about it.

Building Successful Internet Businesses.

Product Listing

Building Successful Internet Businesses by David Elderbrock and Nitin Borwankar 919 E. Hillsdale Blvd., Ste. 400 Foster City, CA 94404 800-434-3422 Fax: 800-550-2747 ISBN: 0-7645-7001-3 360 pages Price: $39.99

Written by a pair of technical consultants, Building Successful Internet Businesses puts the emphasis where you would expect: on the "building" part. It's long on technical advice but short on business or marketing savvy.

If you're eager to get down to business, you'll find this book a slow starter. It chronicles in some detail (four chapters) what's currently happening online--not only on the Web, but also via Internet mail, newsgroups, and chat services. These chapters note the potential business uses along the way but fail to explore them in any depth. Most of that comes later, with sections about online publishing and, finally, electronic commerce. It's not until the last quarter of the book that you find chapters on identifying Internet business opportunities, developing a product, and launching an online business.

Aside from a seemingly backward organization, this book suffers from a preoccupation with the technical workings of its marketplace. (It's a little like having a book about catalog selling being more focused on the mail system than on how to sell via direct marketing.) Still, this is a relatively new medium, and if a medium guide is all you really need, then this may be your resource.

Best Western looks to grow; The hotel chain has its eye on expanding in Minnesota by adding 16 more hotels to the 28 it has in the state.(BUSINESS INSIDER)

Byline: Susan Feyder; Staff Writer

Best Western International, the world's largest hotel chain, is looking to expand in Minnesota, where it has 28 hotels.

Best Western has targeted 16 locations throughout the state where it hopes to open hotels, including Brooklyn Park, Blaine, Forest Lake, Brainerd and Grand Rapids, said Roman Jaworowicz, director of the chain's region that encompasses Minnesota and seven other states. Jaworowicz said applications with Best Western's membership organization are pending that could result in five new hotels in Minnesota in the next 15 months.

Phoenix-based Best Western is a nonprofit membership organization made up of independently owned and operated hotels. In 2004, the latest year available, it had systemwide revenue of $7.4 billion.

"We're not a cookie-cutter operation," Jaworowicz said. While all Best Westerns must meet some standards - such as providing free high-speed Internet access, complimentary breakfast and clocks, hair dryers and ironing boards in all rooms - the hotels' designs and features can vary widely.

Some, such as the Best Western Edgewater in Duluth, have waterparks. The recently opened 35,000-square-foot indoor waterpark and arcade was part of a renovation of the Duluth hotel that cost $8 million to $10 million, Jaworowicz said. Other Best Westerns focus more heavily on business travelers with conference and business centers.

"We depend on our owners and operators to know the market better than we do," Jaworowicz said.

He said his company doesn't expect rising gas prices to keep travelers home this summer. "People will spend more time researching prices on the Internet and planning their trips," he said. "Instead of having a road trip with multiple stops, they'll find a single place they want to go to and stay there longer."

That optimistic view mirrors most forecasts for the lodging industry this year. Smith Travel Research of Hendersonville, Tenn., recently projected a continuing rise this year in revenue per available room, a key industry yardstick. PricewaterhouseCoopers recently projected solid increases in daily room rates nationwide.

Ryan breaks ground on diabetes research center

Spring Point Project and Ryan Companies US Inc. began construction last week on a biomedical facility that will research cures for diabetes. New Richmond, Wis.- based Spring Point Project will use the facility to produce pigs to provide cell clusters suitable for clinical trials that could begin as early as 2009.

Spring Point is a nonprofit organization established to develop premier resource animals for the clinical trials. Its research is aimed at developing protocols for effective cell transplants to treat diabetes. The organization is pursuing collaborative research agreements with the University of Minnesota and its Diabetes Institute for Immunology and Transplantation. In February, university researchers reported that they had successfully reversed diabetes in monkeys using transplanted cells from pigs.

Ryan is providing design, development and construction services for the site, which was secured through Welsh Companies. The animal housing facilities have been designed to meet Spring Point's complex air handling, shower, autoclaving and sterilization requirements. The 21,000-square-foot facility will comply with all government regulations for producing animals whose organs and tissues are suitable for human transplants.

Links to al-Qaida tenuous for suspected militant.

Byline: Stephen J. Hedges

WASHINGTON _ A day after explosions killed scores of worshippers in the Iraqi cities of Karbala and Baghdad, a top U.S. military commander told Congress on Wednesday that intelligence reports have traced the bombings to a terrorist linked to al-Qaida.

Gen. John Abizaid, head of U.S. forces in Iraq, appeared before the House Armed Services Committee and asserted that the "level of organization and the desire to cause casualties among innocent worshippers is a clear hallmark" of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a Jordanian who U.S. officials say has trained with al-Qaida.

But like other U.S. officials who have blamed al-Zarqawi for attacks in Iraq, the general offered no concrete evidence.

"We have intelligence that ties Zarqawi to this attack," Abizaid said. "We also have intelligence that shows that there is some linkage between Zarqawi and the former (Iraqi) regime elements" that the U.S. blames for many attacks on coalition soldiers and civilians in Iraq.

In January, U.S. officials discovered a letter purportedly written by al-Zarqawi to al-Qaida leaders. Military officials said the memo proposed igniting a civil war between Iraq's Sunni and Shiite Muslims by attacking Shiites.

Tuesday's attacks targeted Shiite Muslims celebrating Ashura, a religious holiday.

On Wednesday, a message purportedly from al-Qaida denied responsibility for the bombings. The e-mail, received by the London-based Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper, blamed U.S. troops.

Terrorism experts say al-Zarqawi trained with Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida network. But some experts doubt he is coordinating with al-Qaida today.

"I think he's asking al-Qaida for support," Bruce Hoffman, a terrorism expert at Rand, said of the letter. "He's certainly in the position of a supplicant, emulating bin Laden."

While cautious not to contradict colleagues in Iraq, U.S. officials in Washington describe Zarqawi only as an "associate" of al-Qaida.

"He's someone with links to them, dealings with them in terms of training and logistics," said one U.S. official. "He's not a sworn member. We believe that he's played a role in some of these attacks."

Don`t get caught out by hidden charges in your phone bill - stark warning by TeleVoice.

M2 PRESSWIRE-20 August 2003-TeleVoice: Don`t get caught out by hidden charges in your phone bill - stark warning by TeleVoice(C)1994-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

RDATE:08202003

TeleVoice, the telecommunications service provider which recently launched the `Pay as you go` home telephone service is advising consumers to be wary of the small print and hidden charges encountered in some of the `too good to be true offers` currently advertised.

Dozens of telecom providers offer alternatives to BT which bombard consumers with many misleading claims about their cheap and free calls. The truth is, no-one is cheaperall the time to all destinations, so it is imperative that when you choose a provider, you make sure it is tailored to your individual needs.

Direct comparisons between the many different telephone packages in the market place can be confusing and time consuming as telecom companies make a point of ensuring that restrictions, time-limitations, special dialling sequences and, detailed breakdowns of real costs etc. are well hidden and overly complicated.

As a result, consumers are being trapped by this as they do not look at the finer details of a plan. In most cases, this is how telecom companies are making their revenue.

What the phone companies would rather you didn`t think about :

* All alternative fixed line companies still use the BT local loop meaning consumers still pay a quarterly rental/service bill to BT

* Most alternatives will only work on a standard BT residential line, without any restrictions

* Cable companies claim `connection is free`. What they don`t tell customers is that they will pay a premium on standard monthly subscriptions to cover the cost, normallyequivalent to GBP10 a month

* Most companies require `An Agreement`. Meaning that it is open ended and subject to terms and conditions that the customer cannot easily access.

* Most advertising neglects to mention restrictions and limitations of use

* Most bills are calculated to round-up any costs and donot breakdown calls of short duration, or costs of reconnection.

Pip Errington, Chief Executive TeleVoice comments:

"Consumers are being enticed into deals that almost `seem too good to be true`, and, often are. Apathy and a willingness to take the easy option has seen consumers signing on the dotted line and often committing themselves to contracts that are not cheaper. Although, we aren`t saying we are cheaper than all providers, we can guarantee that what you see, is what you get with a TeleVoice phone service."

For more information on the TeleVoice service and the services provided by the company log on to www.televoiceservices.com or call 0870 44 30 711.

Notes To Editors:

TeleVoice was launched in 1999 to offer you the world's first 'Pay as you Go' home telephone service. Demand has grown quickly for the service and TeleVoice products are now available through over 2000 retail outlets throughout the UK.

Following extensive consumer research, TeleVoice developed a service that completely eliminates phone bills with pre-payment; a unique product that caters for what you really want from your telephone service, which means the average user can cut costs on local, national and international calls by a remarkable 50%. Consumers can also earn loyalty bonus free minutes when topping-up their call credit.

TeleVoice products can be used just like a standard telephone service. Unlike most telephone services, which only offer either reduced call costs or account query facilities, the TeleVoice phone service requires no special pre-dialling sequences or hidden costs. Consumers can also take advantage of the Internet service, which offers the same benefits and allows exactly the same control as the TeleVoice phone service.

TeleVoice enables savvy customers to keep a tight control on their call spend, as they can monitor the cost of all phone calls and gain free and instant access to their account details 24 hours a day.

TeleVoice`s policy is to supply products based on consumer demand and the Company constantly reviews and evaluates its current services with both existing and potential customers. Therefore, TeleVoice is confident that its products are directly answering a consumer need for a transparent phone service which is robust, cost-effective and easy to use.

LimeLife.com's Mobile Web Site Delivers Most Engaged Female Audience to Mobile Marketers.

Los Angeles, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) February 24, 2011

LimeLife.com, the leading multi-platform female lifestyle and celebrity news site today announced key findings showing that LimeLife's mobile web site at m.limelife.com delivers the most engaged female audience among female lifestyle mobile websites. LimeLife.com is owned and operated by Total Beauty Media, the Internet's premier beauty and lifestyle digital media publisher.

BrandinHand, a leading mobile media buying agency whose clients have included Procter and Gamble, General Mills. Best Buy and American Express, conducted a side-by-side performance comparison of the leading female lifestyle mobile sites and found that m.LimeLife.com was the overall best performer. "On average, we saw about a 40% lift in engagement from the Lime Life audience. With over two million mobile unique visitors, Lime Life is the only publisher able to deliver women in the scale many of our clients require and these visitors continue to maintain a high level of performance. As a result, it is a 'must have' mobile site on just about any mobile advertising initiative we lead targeting women," said Matt Doherty, Associate Media Director of BrandinHand.

The findings were based upon select consumer brands with mobile ad campaigns on m.LimeLife.com as well as on 17 other female lifestyle mobile websites over a 27 week period, which concluded on Dec 31, 2010. Each campaign used the same MMA standard mobile banner ad units which clicked through to the advertisers' mobile micro-sites.

Two key areas were identified in which consumers engaged more highly on the LimeLife mobile web site versus other female lifestyle mobile sites:

*     Click-thru rates averaged 43% higher on Lime Life

*     Depth of engagement (or page views post click) from Lime Life users was 37% than on the other female lifestyle mobile sites

"Mobile ad campaigns are becoming an increasingly important part of consumer brands' digital media plans. These results show that women respond to advertising messages surrounding the right content on mobile devices. Lime Life's mobile site happens to be the most effective way for advertisers to reach women via mobile devices," said Emrah Kovacoglu, CEO of Total Beauty Media.

"This research shows that mobile female consumers do click and engage with advertisers' mobile ad campaigns and micro-sites, but that all mobile sites are not created equal in delivering an engaged audience," said Ann Marie MacDougall, Vice President of Sales for Total Beauty Media, Inc.
