NSW: Seven taken to hospital after truck crash
EDS: Updating information from police and ambulance media
SYDNEY, Dec 14 AAP - Seven people have been taken to Wollongong Hospital after a truck
driven by a P-plater crashed into a number of parked cars outside a fast food restaurant.
NSW Police said the male truck driver crashed into a carpark at a McDonald's restaurant
in Fairy Meadow at about 12.30pm (AEDT) after failing to stop at a roundabout at the intersection
of Mt Ousley Rd and the Princes Hwy.
The truck hit several cars, pushing one into the restaurant and trapping the female driver.
She was freed an hour later by emergency services and has been taken to Wollongong
Hospital suffering serious chest injuries, an ambulance spokesman said.
Six others at the scene, including five children aged from two months to four-years-old,
have been taken to Wollongong Hospital with minor injuries.
The 20-year-old P-plate driver of the truck escaped injury, and is helping police with
their inquiries.
