INDIA'S SISTEMA SHYAM TO OFFER INTERNET SERVICES IN MERU CABS
NEW DELHI - India's Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd (SSTL), which offers telephony services under the MTS brand name, today said it has partnered with Meru Cabs to offer free internet services to its passengers in New Delhi and Mumbai.
The customer needs to ask the cab driver for an MBlaze dongle to get free internet surfing along with unlimited data download, SSTL said in a statement.
INDIA'S TULIP TELECOM SEES Q3 NET PROFIT SOAR 42%
NEW DELHI - Enterprise communication services provider Tulip Telecom (BSE:532691) yesterday reported an increase of 42 per cent in its net profit at Rs 81.7 crore (US$18 million) for the quarter ending December 31, 2010.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 57.4 crore in the same quarter previous fiscal year.

DHAKA - Bangladesh's University Grants Commission (UGC) has emphasized the need for enhancing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) education to expedite the process for building Digital Bangladesh.

INDIA'S NIIT IN TIE-UP WITH ZEND TECHNOLOGIES FOR PHP TRAINING
NEW DELHI - Global IT training company NIIT (BSE:532541) and California-based Zend Technologies Monday announced a partnership to develop a skilled workforce within India on hypertext preprocessor (PHP) web technology.
"There is huge gap in demand and supply of PHP programmers. At present, there are only 6,000 certified PHP programmers across the world. We want to take this number to 80,000 in the next three years," NIIT chief executive officer Vijay K Thadani said while announcing the partnership.
INDIA'S MAHINDRA SATYAM SEES TWO-FOLD JUMP IN OCT-DEC PROFIT
HYDERABAD - India-based Mahindra Satyam on Monday said its net profit jumped over two-fold to Rs 58.9 crore (US$13 million) in the October-December period compared to the previous quarter on increased utilisation levels of manpower.
Revenue grew marginally to Rs 1,279.30 crore in the third quarter from Rs 1,242 crore in the previous quarter of this financial year.
INDIA'S WIPRO, CONTINUOUS COMP TIE UP TO OFFER 3G, LTE SOLUTIONS
NEW DELHI - Indian IT firm Wipro Technologies said yesterday it has partnered with US-based Continuous Computing to provide solutions to 3G and Long Term Evolution (LTE) network equipment-makers.
The two companies are working together to provide Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and Femtocell products for network equipment providers supplying 3G and LTE network infrastructure, Wipro said in a statement.

TAIPEI - About three-fourths of Taiwan's office workers are interested in getting involved in a business related to the gaming industry to pursue their personal interest professionally, the results of a survey released on Monday showed.
1111 Job Bank, the manpower agency that conducted the survey on whether an interest in playing games could lead to a job, said 74.52 per cent of respondents wanted to join a gaming industry company and were hoping for an average monthly salary of NT$37,094 (US$1,265).
OBAMA LAUDS S.KOREA FOR WIDER ACCESS TO BROADBAND INTERNET
WASHINGTON - U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday called for more investment in building infrastructure to catch up with South Korea and other outperforming countries.
In a message to Congress attached to his budget for the 2012 fiscal year, Obama said the U.S. "lags behind other nations when it comes to the infrastructure of the future," noting that "only 63 per cent of American households subscribe to high-speed, broadband Internet compared to 95 per cent in South Korea and 77 per cent in the Netherlands."
